While the routine of daily activities is important for Pembroke campers, we believe that unique, often spontaneous, one-time activities make each season special in its own way. We also enjoy making unique activities stand-out from the daily routine, such as picnics, pizza birthday parties, and special bunk activities.
Color War is a cherished camp tradition featuring a long-anticipated “break” which always succeeds in getting everyone excited about the three-day event. All Color War activities initiate true team spirit and develop leadership skills, and involve the whole camp – staff included. The competitions culminate in a ceremony that reunites the camp, reinforcing the fact that everyone comes out of Color War winning. Our College Night is filled with mini-competitions, such as pie eating, running, or carrying an egg on a spoon, as well as presentations of alma maters, complete with gymnastic routines and elaborate posters created by campers.
Campers are treated to trips out of camp each session. Out-of-camp excursions have included roller skating, professional theatre performances, sporting events, water parks and beach days. Our older campers participate in special trips specifically for their age group, which our campers look forward to with great anticipation. Traditionally, these campers go to the White Mountains, Martha’s Vineyard, and Club Getaway. In addition, some of our daily activities such as golf, hiking, camping, or biking may involve leaving camp to hone specific skills in a more challenging atmosphere.
